Please Continue To Pray For The Family!

I wanted to let you know that we received a call from Gina this morning. Matthew Unterriner passed away last night. He was peaceful and surrounded by his whole family. We mourn with his loved ones, and we rejoice with Matthew as he is now in the presence of God. His faith in Jesus was personal and strong and for the first time in a long time, he is without any pain. Rob

Please Continue To Pray For Matt & Family!

TO EVERYONE:
We wanted to let you know that Matt has had a rough weekend!! We are sad to report that his personality took a turn for the worse. He has been acting not himself for a couple of days. He was put on oxygen last night, not continuous, but as needed. He is still eating, getting up and moving around and all as before. We will continue to praise God, for he knows what is best for Matthew, and we have been blessed over the past few weeks at the awesomeness of God. So please continue to pray for Matt, and keep the family in your prayers. They are so close to the situation, and there 24/7. They need God's strength, courage, peace, grace and mercy.

In His Arms, Gina Unterriner

Praise God!! Matt Has Accepted Christ - Baptized

TO EVERYONE:

Praise God, we are 15 days into a 3-5 day diagnosis. Matthew once again is gaining strength day by day. Paul came back home to work this week, and he was telling me a story yesterday that I have to share: One of Matthews closest friends asked Paul after Matt's baptism the other day, What is the religion Baptism?, is it like Baptist? Just goes to show, how what the devil meant for evil, that God will turn around and receive the glory for, this opened the door for Paul to talk with that young man. Yesterday, Matt's cuisine consisted of potatoes, and eggs, and other bits of food here and there---he is gaining strength day by day, I will start sending these e-mails every other day, I dont want to inudate you folks, I just have to give the glory to God, or the very Rocks will Cry Out---And please, please, never underestimate the power of prayer, this situation here has gone on for Three years and still is, God is on the throne, God is working in your situation today, seen or unseen. Keep Matthew in your prayers, and never grow tired in well going, for in due season you will reap.

ISAIAH 40:28-31-------Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the
everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and th them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths, shall faint and be weary, and the youn men shall uttterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

To wait on the Lord is to trust Him fully with our lives. It involves looking to Him as our source of help and grace in our time of need. Ps. 25:3-5, 27:14. Luke 2:25, 38. Those who wait upon the Lord are PROMISED:(1) the strength of God to revive them in the midst of exhaustion and weakness, of suffering and trial; (2) the ability to rise above their difficulties as an eagle that soars into the sky; and (3) the ability to fun spiritually without tiring and to walk steadily forward without fainting at God's delays. God PROMISES that if his people will patiently TRUST Him, he will provide whatever is needed to sustain them constantly(1 Peter 1:5)

Please Pray For Pastor Daniel

Friends -

I’m writing concerning Daniel Conner, the Pastor of Compassion Ministries at Palm Valley Church. Daniel was admitted to the hospital late last night, experiencing severe headaches and nausea. The doctors found a sore in his sinuses containing a lot of fungus and bacteria. They originally thought it had spread deep into his brain, making the situation life threatening and requiring brain surgery. Fortunately the report of the Neurologist was much brighter and it hadn’t spread as deep as they thought.

They’re holding off on surgery for now to see if the anti-fungal and anti-biotic treatments start working. They’re flushing out his sinuses in the morning and should have a better idea of where he stands in the next few days. Daniel’s not out of the woods yet and has a long road to recovery ahead. The doctors told them that he could be in ICU for as long as three weeks. Even after he’s out, he’ll be going through some out patient surgeries. Unfortunately, children under 12 aren’t allowed in ICU so Daniel may not get to see Riley (their newborn) for a while.

I’ll send out updates periodically as things progress. Please pray for Daniel, Violet, and Riley, that God would heal Daniel completely and bring a sense of peace and comfort to he, Violet, and their families.

Please feel free to send this out to people in the Palm Valley family and to others who know and care for the Conners.

In Christ,
Derrick

Rob's Hope Minute!!

Safe In Daddy's Arms
I have met the most amazing Moms and Dads on this journey. Parents who give so much with so little thought of what they need or want. Parents who impart strength and courage to a child facing battles that would bring most of to our knees in pain or fear. Parents who share their faith with a child in a real, daily, powerful way. These parents are images of Christ.

Last night, I left the house at about 9:00 pm and headed down to the hospital. I was going to see one of our HopeKids children who had a leg-lengthening surgery yesterday as part of his battle with Osteosarcoma. The surgery resulted in a lot screaming from an overwhelming amount of pain. In order to address the pain, they had him stay overnight.

I walked in the room, ice cream and spoons in hand. He was laying in bed, but he wasn't alone. His Dad was right there next to him, letting his son rest his head on his shoulder. He was safe in Daddy's arms.

After a few bites of ice cream the pain meds kicked in again and he went to sleep. I was then blessed to spend about an hour just talking with the Dad. He shared with me how this battle has brought their family closer together. We talked about God's bigger plan and how God knew that they all were strong enough to go through this. And we talked about how they had touched so many people's lives who were witnessing the depth of their faith. (We also talked about golf, but I will save that for another HopeMinute!)

I left the room humbled by this amazing Dad. So strong and courageous for his son and his family, yet so weak and dependent on the Lord. I know there are a lot of other remarkable parents out there reading this right now. I want to encourage you today. You are doing a great job! Know that you are inspiring many. Know that in your weakness, God is made strong and He promises that in Him you can do all things. And know that He loves you more than you can imagine.

Continued Prayers!!

Good Afternoon to everyone:

I just wanted to update you on Matthews' condition, He is holding his own, considering a week ago we were told he had 3-5 days. He still is not eating, but is very young and a trooper that is for sure. Everyones prayers have been felt, and we all know that everything in this life is in Gods' hands anyways. Matthew does want 2 services one in Tuscon and then one in Mesa, where he will be next to his grandmother. I will definitley be notifying you all when that information is needed. I did go and check on an account on behalf of Matthew at CHASE today, but that involves lawyers, and obtaining a tax ID number, and that is not feasible at this time.
I will update everyone as needed. Thank you for your continued prayers for all
of the family. In His Arms----Paul, and Gina

From Matthew's Mom...

GOOD MORNING TO EVERYONE;

THIS IS AN UPDATE CONCERNING MATTHEW, HE HAS BEEN DOING FAIRLY WELL THE PAST DAY OR SO, WITH MANY A FAMILY AND FRIENDS SURROUNDING HIM. THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD HAS BEEN OVERWHELMING.
FROM WHAT WAS TOLD TO US FROM THE HOSPICE NURSE YESTERDAY, WITH THERE BEING SUCH A BIG TUMOR IN MATTHEWS INTESTINES, AND TAKING IN ANY FOOD HIS BODY WILL BE SHUITTING DOWN, BUT CONSIDERING HIS AGE IT IS HARD TO SAY, AS IT IS IN GODS' HANDS NOW.

MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEB ASKING HOW THEY COULD CONTRIBUTE OR HELP, OR WHAT MATTHEWS NEEDS ARE. MATTHEW REQUEST TO HIS PARENTS WAS TO HAVE A MEMORIAL SERVICE, HERE IN TUSCON, AND THEN TO BE BURIED IN MESA, NEXT TO HIS PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER. THAT MEANS 2 SERVICES AND, SOME UNFORSEEN EXPENSES, SO IN LIEU OF ANY GIDTS IF ANYONE COULD CONTRIBUTE TO HELP WITH THE EXPENSE, IT WOULD BE A BLESSING TO PAUL, AND MATTHEWS MOM SHERRI.

ANY CHECKS COULD BE MADE OUT TO PAUL UNTERRINER, AND SENT TO THE ADDRESS BELOW, AND MAY GOD BLESS ANYONE HOWEVER THEY WOULD SEE FIT TO HELP. I WOULD ASK THAT YOU CONTINUE TO KEEP THE FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS' DURING THE INTERIM AND WHEN THE SERVICE IS SCHEDULED IN MESA EVERYONE WILL BE NOTIFIED, GOD BLESS YOU ALL, AND AGAIN THANK YOU FOR ALLL YOUR CONCERNS AND HELP.

IN HIS ARMS,
GINA UNTERRINER

TO EVERYONE:

Just wanted to update you on Matthew. He was taken to the hospital yesterday with severe pain in his intestines. We have now found out that there are tumors all through out his body, and a significant one in his intestines, and his body is starting to shut down. His desire is to go home at this point---The doctors have given 3-5 days. Please continue to pray for the Matt, and the whole family. Everyone is so heavy-hearted, and thank you sooo much for the all your prayer. I am adding Matthews' address at the end of this e-mail.

Acts 21:13

After it was prophesied that Paul would be jailed in Jerusalem:

"...Paul said, "Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.""

This scripture makes me ask the following question -
What am I ready to do for the sake of my Lord?

Never Forget To Say Thank You!!!

Don't Forget The Name Of This Holiday

When I was a child the Memorial Day holiday had an alternate name. Many of my relatives still called it “Decoration Day” because part of the day was devoted to putting flowers or wreaths on the graves of those who had died while in military service to our country. I know it is still an important day for many and countless families still pause to honor fallen family and friends. But for many of us it is too easy to make this a day only for barbecues, department store sales and family get togethers. I have not been directly touched by the loss of a family member or friend in war. My father served in World War II and I remember how moved I was by the twenty-one gun salute his fellow comrades gave him at his graveside service. I don’t want to be grumpy old man and rain on your fun Memorial Day plans. I am planning on having sixty-seven percent of my sons over for a cookout. But I am asking you to take a few minutes and reflect, pray and thank God for the men and women who are serving us this day around the world. And for the families of those who are desperately missing a beloved soldier on this day.

A few weeks ago I wrote an article challenging the idea that some Christians might choose to sit out the upcoming Presidential election. I received some feedback from a man who had earned the right to be heard on this issue:

I risk my life daily in the skies of Iraq so you all may have the privilege of voting. Please don't throw that away. I am not a fan of any of the candidates either, but I will vote and my vote will go to the one whose values are most like my own. I fear if the wrong people come to power, we will pull out of Iraq pre-maturely which means two things. 1. It means that my friends have died in vain. 2. It means that our families are at a much greater risk from another attack on the home soil. Contrary to what some think, Al Q'aida is in Iraq. They haven't submerged so as to re-emerge at some later date. We are chasing them down and killing and capturing them daily. I believe they haven't been able to plan and execute another horrible attack simply because we have them on the run. Their thoughts are only of survival and we must continue to pursue them to keep them at bay. Your vote tells me that you care about the sacrifices of my friends' lives. It also tells me that you care about the sacrifices of all of our military families. About the men and women, who though happily married, play single-parent for months at time. My wife has been a single mom for 8 of the last 13 months and this cycle will continue. It is a sacrifice we gladly make to keep our friends and families safe, to keep our nation free and to protect your rights. Please, exercise those rights.

-David, Major, United States Air Force
Balad Air Base, Iraq

Pray for David. Pray for his friends and colleagues. And thank you David for your service, your wisdom and your heart. We are blessed by men and women like you. Don’t forget them on this Memorial Day.

Click here to read more from Dave Burchett on his website.

Thank you to so many that have given their lives for us and all of you who serve this country so that we may be free. God bless you!!! Let us never forget.
